T.O.D.-(Tip of The Day)…As women we are always trying to age as gracefully as possible at the expense of costly products and cosmetic procedures. I’ve been doing research and it seems it starts in the kitchen. No, I’m not a poster child for always doing the right thing so I’m not going to preach to you but I am going to share with you some nutritious food facts that have anti-aging powers and that help with heart disease and cancer.
1) Leafy Greens-Huge source of fiber, Vitamin C and K, folic acid, Vitamin A (which supports skin cell turnover) and 4 essential minerals: calcium, magnesium, iron, and potassium.
2) Berries-Carry more anti-aging antioxidants than almost any other food. They lower disease risk, help prevent memory loss, and high in fiber.
3) Salmon-Prime source of Omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin B12, and Vitamin D…all great for fighting heart disease and helping regulate blood pressure.
4) Nuts-Excellent source of protein, magnesium, Vitamin B and E..help with heart disease and cancer.
5) Whole Grains-96% more fiber, magnesium, zinc, chromium, and Vitamins E and B6 then refined grains. Helps prevent heart disease, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. Stick with whole grains, brown rice, or quinoa.
6) Yogurt-Low or nonfat yogurt are a great source of B Vitamins, protein, and calcium. It has probiotics-which block out disease-causing germs.
7) Veggies-Carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, etc..help lower risk of cancer, colds, and skin damage.

Remove Grease Stains

T.O.D. (Tip of the Day)-My girlfriend was kind enough to share this with me today. I haven’t had the opportunity to try this tip yet but if and when I get a grease stain on my clothes, hopefully baby powder will come to the rescue. Place baby powder on your grease stain, allow to sit for 10 minutes and absorb into the stain, and use a soft bristle tooth brush to brush the baby powder off.
Note: Supposedly cornstarch, flour, or salt cold be an alternative (although, I probably would only try baby powder on my clothes) and removing a fresh stain is always easier then removing one that has set in.

Remove Candle Wax

T.O.D.- (Tip of the Day) ..Holiday season is approaching and what’s the holiday’s without candles burning to create ambience and fabulous smells throughout the home?? I love burning mulling spices on the stove top during this time of the year, along with candles. It gives the home such a festive, cozy, warm feeling. I’m sure you will be entertaining guest for dinner and little ones possibly running about, so accidents are bound to occur. If you experience a spilt wax accident or if you have a candle that melts down onto your rug or table cloth, don’t panic! After, entertaining you can break out the iron and remove the wax. Take a hand towel and place over the wax and iron over the spot on a low heat. If the wax is not coming out then gradually turn the heat up until it comes out. Works like a charm. 😉

Whiter Teeth

T.O.D. (Tip of the Day)- Want whiter teeth? Two inexpensive ingredients hydrogen peroxide and baking soda! You can brush your teeth once a day with baking soda. It is an ingredient found in many toothpaste and it helps clean the teeth. It’s a little messy and gritty but it works and rinse with hydrogen peroxide. Make sure you purchase a hydrogen peroxide that has 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. Hydrogen peroxide is useful as a mouthwash due to its antiseptic properties. If you notice almost every effective whitening kit list peroxide as its active ingredient. Rinse in mouth for at least 30 seconds once a day. It will foam in mouth and the foam kills bacteria and helps fight gum disease. Afterwards, flush your mouth again with water! These two simple steps will help with your overall mouth hygiene and help whiten your teeth. 🙂
Note: If you don’t like the taste in your mouth after the above steps, rinse with a listerine or mouthwash of choice to kill the taste in your mouth.

Fresh Bread

T.O.D. (Tip of the Day) – Have you ever been to the store to buy bread and you “squeeze” the bread to see if you can tell if its fresh and/or soft? With this little tip you won’t have to ever wonder again! Fresh Bread is delivered to the supermarket 5 days a week! Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and each day has a different color twist tie. Monday=Blue, Tuesday=Green, Thursday=Red, Friday=White, and Saturday=Yellow. Now you can be assured to always purchase the freshest bread.
FYI-The colors go alphabetically by color Blue, Green, Red, White, and Yellow. 🙂
Since today is Tuesday you would purchase the bread with the green twist tie or blue for yesterday’s delivery, if green twist ties have not been delivered yet!
