Peppermint Sugar Scrub

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I’m looking forward to seeing what this approaching New Year has to bring in year 2013. For now I will enjoy whats left of 2012 and this homemade peppermint sugar scrub I made which makes a nice exfoliant. It also makes a nice gift for girlfriends and you could change the colors to fit your occasion (Baby showers, Birthdays, etc.) or any holiday (Valentines, Christmas, etc.).
Ingredients
2 Cups of Sugar
Red Food Color
Mason Jar
1/3 Cup of Light Olive Oil
1/8 Cup of Coconut Oil
1/4 tsp of Peppermint Essential Oil
Pour sugar in a bowl, add the olive oil, coconut oil, and peppermint oil. Mix well. In separate bowl I added more sugar and oil and red food color (until I reached my desired color). There is not an exact science or measurement when making your scrub. You can add as much oil of the sugar or oils as you like until you reach the desired texture and smell you like. Then pack into a mason jar tightly. I tied a ribbon around mine with a candy cane! ๐Ÿ™‚

Time To Make The Donuts

No, literally its time to make the donuts! ๐Ÿ™‚ I know everyone loves a donut every now and again, right? I do! I had the craving this morning and made cinnamon & sugar donut holes. All you need is a can of biscuits (I keep extra in fridge because they come in handy) and pull them apart into three’s and role into balls. You could also make regular size donuts by placing a hole in the center of the biscuit. Heat your peanut oil on the stovetop until its nice and warm then reduce the heat to a medium-low or low. You may want to test a few before hand to make sure your oil is the right temperature before you toss them all in. You will continuously flip with your tongs until golden brown on all sides and cooked all the way through. Place the cooked donuts onto a plate covered with paper towels to absorb any extra oil and then toss in your cinnamon & sugar mixture. You will need 1 tsp of cinnamon and 1/4 cup of sugar to coat. Bam~you have donuts! Tasty little weekend treat ๐Ÿ˜‰

Almond Joy Truffles

Almond Joys got nuts …Mounds don’t! You can make these truffles with or without almonds. Chocolate and coconut lovers these are ahhhhh-mazing! They are also pretty sweet so they will cure a sweet craving if your having one.
Ingredients
Chocolate
3 Cups of Shredded Coconut
1/2 Cup of Condensed Milk
1/2 Cup of Powdered Sugar
In a mixing bowl stir together the coconut, condensed milk, and powdered sugar. Roll into balls and lay to side. Next, take almonds and stick into the middle of the coconut ball and roll in hand to shape into a round ball and hide the almond. Melt chocolate and dip the truffle in the chocolate and place on wax paper to harden. That’s it folks! You now have yourself an almond joy truffle …look out godiva! ๐Ÿ˜‰

A Few Of My Favorite Things …

Hello Weekend Warriors! My weekend was all about beauty! Saturday, I had more layers cut in my hair. Ahhh, finally it has life and body again! If your bored with your style and you don’t want to lose your length, maybe you should consider some long layers. After, my hair I had an exciting day shopping for makeup! Remember when you were a little girl and all you wanted to do was play in your mothers makeup? Well, I’m grown now and all I want to do is play in makeup. Especially, lately I’ve been makeup obsessed! I went to Mac and had my makeup done which in return sold me on buying more product and left me wanting more! HA, girl problems! I bought eye colors that I would of never gravitated towards, but my eyes popped once applied. I guess my point is…if you are unsure what will look good with your skin tones, ask! She opened my eyes (literally) to new colors. I also learned a new way of applying eye liner that really made my eyes stand out and it stayed for hours. I will share in upcoming post more about my colors and hopefully some tutorials. I am currently trying to work with a makeup artist to bring you professional tutorials!
It’s no secret that I also have a sugar obsession, its so dangerous! This is the reason I work out…;)! It’s not my fault that they place Godiva across from Mac :(. What’s a girl suppose to do? So, I snuck over and scored some brownies, macaroons, and chocolate covered oreos! WHOA! You know the rest! Yep, sugar high! Upon arriving home there was another sweet surprise awaiting for me….a Key Lime Tart! Not just any key lime tart but a Gateaux key lime tart. This bakery is seriously the BEST!
Sunday Funday was all about the Broncos. Football games are always fun, you can really feel the energy amongst the crazed fans! Some are quite humorous with their paint and attire. True die hard fans.! Well, thats a wrap for my weekend! Just a few highlights of the excitement!

S’mores Bars

Drum roll please! and the winner is …”The Warm Toasted Marshmallow S’mores Bars!” They won the Betty Crocker Grand Prize in 2006 and they are magically delicious!

1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crockerยฎ sugar cookie mix
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 cup butter or margarine, melted
3 cups milk chocolate chips (18 oz)
4 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows

Heat oven to 375ยฐF. In large bowl, stir together cookie mix and crumbs. Stir in melted butter until soft dough forms. Press into ungreased 13×9-inch pan.
Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until set. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over crust. Let stand 3 to 5 minutes or until chocolate begins to melt. Spread chocolate evenly over crust.
Set oven control to broil. Sprinkle marshmallows over melted chocolate. Broil with top 5 to 6 inches from heat 20 to 30 seconds or until marshmallows are toasted. (Watch closely; marshmallows will brown quickly.) Cool 10 minutes. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows. Serve warm. Store any remaining bars in container TIGHTLY COVERED!

Godiva Truffles

Can you walk by the Godiva Boutique in the mall and not stop??? I start smelling the chocolate as I round the corner and am instantly drawn into the store. Godiva equals Chocolate Delight, a Chocolate Lovers Heaven on Earth! The truffles are so good they are sinful! I grabbed a box of the Signature Truffles and The Ice Cream Parlor Truffles ranging in many different flavors including but not limited to hazelnut praline, strawberries n’ dream, key lime, pistachio, and lemon sorbet to name a few of my FAVS that I can’t resist! If your in the mood to put a smile on someones face Godiva always make a nice gift for a special occasion or just because! ๐Ÿ™‚

Coffee Cake

Good Morning! I wanted to indulge this morning and treat myself to something sweet so I decided to make a coffee cake and its absolutely positively Delicious! Oh, and simple to prepare which is the best part ๐Ÿ™‚ Make it for your guest and they will swear it took hours or came from the bakery! Although, I’m not really sure why its called coffee cake other than the fact you may drink a cup of coffee with it because there is no coffee in the recipe.
Recipe as Follows:
1/2 cup of pecans
1/2 cup of parkay
1/2 cup of brown sugar / splenda blend OR you can do 1 cup of brown sugar
2 tablespoons of water
2 cans of biscuits (10 in a can)
Heat oven to 375 degrees
Open biscuits and pull apart each biscuit and roll into balls. There should be 20 balls per can (40 total when done rolling into balls). Melt a tiny bit of parkay and pour into bundt pan, sprinkle with some nuts. Continue to melt and stir the remaining ingredients in a sauce pot. Take 20 of the biscuit balls and place in bundt pan. Pour over melted mixture. Layer the next 20 biscuit balls and pour remaining mixture. Pop in the oven and cook for 20 to 25 minutes. Have a little cup of coffee and a slice of heaven! ๐Ÿ™‚
